Join Broadway fight director J. Allen Suddeth and renowned vocal coach Pamela Prather, for a two session workshop exploring the integration of voice & body in moments of theatrical violence!
Connection to impulse and feel it flow with precision to your breath, voice and action, as you explore moments in contemporary and classic theater.
Vocal reaction before, during, and after a critical moment in a play or film when your character is assaulted, or has to die.
How your voice is altered, supported, or affected by the physiological elements of staged violence.
We will touch on both classical and modern texts:
Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Mercutio and Cleopatra who both have long passages after stabbings.
- Juliet, and Brutus who all commit suicide, or Romeo and Laertes who are poisoned.
Mamet, McDonough, Wilson, along with others that have high points of dramatic violence which can be elevated by supported vocal work.
This is not a stage combat class, but these critical moments of character will be safely staged using real props. Then text and movement will be explored and refined in group, and individual coaching sessions.
You will come away from these workshops with a deeper understanding of the skills it takes to play these pivotal scenes and a tools to help you integrate specificity in words and actions. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
